Now Katy Perry the chameleon reveals a shock of pink hair

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Pink lady: Katy Perry unveiled a bold new hair colour as she stopped off at a gas station in Los Angeles with her in LA yesterday

She has gradually lightened up her locks in recent months in a bid to achieve a flaxen look, but it seems Katy Perry has temporarily abandoned her blonde ambition.

The 26-year-old unveiled very bold new colour as she stopped in at a gas station with her husband Russell Brand in Los Angeles yesterday.

Perhaps taking inspiration from her Teenage Dream cover, she has dyed her hair a cotton candy pink.

She teamed her bright mane with a summery green maxi dress, aviator sunglasses and flip flops.

Katy, who has rarely been spotted with her comedian husband in recent months, is on a brief break from promoting her new film, The Smurfs.

The film, which sees her voice the character Smurfette, made $36.2 million on opening week at the U.S. box office.

'I'm so grateful my husband Russell Brand is clean and sober,' says Katy Perry in wake of Amy Winehouse's death

By Daily Mail Reporter

Grateful: Katy Perry discussed her husband Russell Brand's sobriety during an interview on Good Morning American today

Pop star Katy Perry says Amy Winehouse's death has made her even more grateful for husband Russell Brand staying sober.

Brand, himself a recovering drug addict, took to Twitter over the weekend to laud his late friend as a 'f***ing genius' following her death in London on Saturday.

And Perry says the death puts into perspective Brand's efforts to stay clean and away from drugs.

'My heart felt really sad,' Perry said on Good Morning America about hearing of Winehouse's death.

'My husband, who has been clean and sober for almost nine years, you know, I see him working a program and working on himself every single day.

'And I see how much work it takes to be clean and sober when you have, you know, addiction on your hands.

'It gave me a real a gratefulness for my husband, who got clean when he was 27.

'I feel really sad and I just hope she finds peace.'

Brand paid a lengthy written tribute to Winehouse yesterday, saying addiction should be treated as a potentially fatal disease.

He met her on the Camden pub scene a number of years ago, and said at first he thought she was 'just some twit in a pink satin jacket shuffling round bars'.

He said when he spoke to her she was 'sweet and peculiar but most of all vulnerable'.

By chance Brand saw her perform with Paul Weller at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London, and had an epiphany.

In the piece posted on his website he wrote: 'Entering the space I saw Amy on stage with Weller and his band; and then the awe. The awe that envelops when witnessing a genius. From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie and Ella, from the font of all greatness.

'That twerp, all eyeliner and lager dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I'd only seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy sound.'

Brand has given frank accounts of his battle to overcome drug addiction, and said loved ones will always fear getting a phone call with the worst news possible.

On duty: The star is currently in New York promoting her new film, The Smurfs

At the time he met Winehouse, he himself had not yet got clean, and he said: 'Winehouse and I shared an affliction, the disease of addiction.'

In the piece Brand accused the media of being more interested in 'tragedy than talent', and therefore said they focused more on her personal battles than her musical career.

He went on: 'Addiction is a serious disease; it will end with jail, mental institutions or death.

'Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticised, at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today.

'We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease. Not all addicts have Amy's incredible talent. Or Kurt's (Cobain) or Jimi's (Hendrix) or Janis's (Joplin), some people just get the affliction. All we can do is adapt the way we view this condition, not as a crime or a romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill.'

'We're not breaking up': Katy Perry and Russell Brand deny separation

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

We're fine: Katy Perry has slammed recent reports which claim that she and husband Russell Brand were considering a trial separation, here the couple are seen last month

Katy Perry and Russell Brand have endured countless break-up rumours since they tied the knot in October last year.

And whispers of a split have increased in recent months because the piar have spent more and more time apart due to their busy schedules.

But after a recent report claiming the couple were trying a trial separation, Katy has hit out, insisting that her marriage of just eight months is just fine.

Keeping busy: Russell seen leaving the gym with his trainer sipping on a drink from Earth Bar in West Hollywood today

The 26-year-old, who married the 36-year-old actor in a ceremony in India in October last year, said that just because the couple kept their relationship private, it didn't mean there was trouble in paradise.

Taking to her Twitter page to put the rumours to rest, she wrote: 'Just cause we don't flaunt our relationship doesn't mean there's something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross.'

Brand later supported his wife and wrote a message on his own Twitter page.

He wrote, referring to the current phone hacking scandal surrounding former tabloid newspaper, News Of The World: 'You tell em Mrs Brand! In Britain we're currently dismantling the scum media so I'm not tuned in to their brain-farting.'

The couple's statements come as it was claimed earlier this month that the pair were considering a trial separation in a bid to keep their relationship on the right track.

A source told Heat magazine that Katy had confided: 'We're thinking of taking a break from our marriage. I'm worried it could be the end of the road for us.'

Who's your friend, Russell? Brand relaxes poolside with a Katy Perry lookalike as his wife recovers from food poisoning

By Daily Mail Reporter

Who's your friend? Russell Brand relaxes poolside with a Katy Perry lookalike as his wife recovers from food poisoning

At first glance, Russell Brand looks like he is having a whale of a time relaxing poolside in Los Angeles with wife Katy Perry.

However, on closer inspection, the lady showing off her figure in a tight black swimsuit is not Katy, but a brunette who looks astonishingly like the Firework singer.

Perhaps Brand's new friend was just keeping him company by the hotel pool in Miami as Katy was struck down with food poisoning over the weekend - so much so that she was forced to reschedule two of her planned concerts.

She later promised: 'I am going to return in a few weeks to give them the very best show ever!'

Brand wore a pair of white patterned swimming shorts as he chilled out with his new friend on Sunday.

But Katy was clearly fully appraised of the situation as later in the day, the couple were seen out together stopping at a fruit stand in Los Angeles.

The pictures of the pair together, a rarity in recent months, are set to dismiss rumours their nine-month marriage it in trouble.

It was even claimed the pair were considering a trial separation in a bid to keep their relationship on the right track.

A source told heat magazine that Katy had confided: 'We're thinking of taking a break from our marriage. I'm worried it could be the end of the road for us.'

However their spokesperson today vigorously denied the claim.

The couple have been plagued with reports their marriage isn't working ever since they tied the knot last October after a whirlwind one year long-distance romance.

Vitamins: The fruit would no doubt have done Katy good, as she was hit with a nasty case of food poisoning over the weekend

But in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine earlier this year, Katy insisted she trusts her husband implicitly, despite his lothario past.

She said: 'There's never a dull moment. He has never lied to me once. I trust him; there’s just a level of trust that we’ve built up.'

However, in an interview on Piers Morgan's Life Stories at the beginning of the year, Brand said staying faithful for the rest of his life was a daunting prospect.

He admitted: 'I take it one step at a time - like with drugs, like with alcohol. Don't look at things as in "rest of life".

'Of course marriage is for life and that's what I wanted but anything for the rest of life can be daunting.'
